The Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi created and implemented the Master in Administration in 1976 as a response to the demand of the public and private sectors potosinos by specialized people, to a high academic level in the administration area. Being one of the first graduate programs that was created at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi, with the purpose to develop in the students capacities for analysis, decision-making ability through the teaching of the modern techniques of management.
Between the years of 1985 and 1986 the curriculum was revised as a result of a study carried out by the teachers of the program, in which it identified a series of needs that were not being covered by the previous plan.
In 1989 gave origin the division of Graduate Studies in the Faculty of accounting and management by offering not only the Master in Administration but also an area of specialties such as a specialty in Finance, Public Finances and in 1992 the specialty in Prosecutor.
The Faculty of Accounting and Administration aims to offer through the Division of Postgraduate, Master and Doctoral programs with high quality standards that incorporate the key elements established by the SEP as high levels of student learning, plant of teachers with appropriate profile, adequate infrastructure and facilities to access to information technologies and sufficient economic resources for the operation of curricular programs (SEP, 2001).
The above elements are integrated in a proposal of curricular model Master in Administration (Plan 2008) flexible that contemplates areas of guidance in business, taxs and public management in accordance with the training needs of postgraduate programs identified in the regional environment and in the field of accounting and administration.
